FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOCAL THEATRE STUDENTS TAKE THE LEAD

Nashua, NH – Pack your bags, and get ready to take a trip to the small mythical town of Almost! Peacock Players, New Hampshire’s premiere award-winning youth theatre, proudly presents the new, locally devised, romantic comedy ALMOST, MAINE at the Janice B. Streeter Theater, located at 14 Court Street, in Nashua, NH, for one weekend only in early August.

On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of ALMOST, MAINE. As the northern lights hover over in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the knees mend –almost- in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Brilliantly written by, New England local actor and writer, John Cariani, ALMOST, MAINE has received nothing but the highest of praise for it’s smart, and naturally funny take on life and love. This play is no stranger to the wonderful region of New, England. After being developed by the Portland Stage Company (Portland, Maine- 2004) it went on to become a breakout hit, not only around New, England but also worldwide. Now it has made its way through Korea, Australia, Germany and all the way back to its home region of Nashua, New Hampshire.

In pursuit of Peacock Players’ mission to challenge area students through cutting edge theatre arts educational programs, Peacock Players’ Young Company program trains a select troupe of teens (ages 14-18) to completely produce, direct, design, build, staff, and perform all production positions for their very own Mainstage production.

Therefore, ALMOST, MAINE will be directed by graduating senior Tyler Christe (of Hampstead), stage managed by Cameron Van Dyke (of Nashua), and produced by Miranda Mail (of Nashua) and Tyler G. Stanley (of Nashua).

“I have been involved in theatre productions for years – but I never really knew just how much goes into producing a Mainstage production of this capacity,” says student producer Tyler G. Stanley.  “This is a complicated and collaborative once in a lifetime experience - filled with creative energy, dedicated artists, and an extremely relevant text – all working together to create a extraordinary shared production.”

The cast features local favorites Katie Baroff (of Manchester), Bailie de Lacy (of Hollis), Aileen Donohue (of Nashua), Nate Healey (of Nashua), Kat Mail (of Nashua), Miranda Mail (of Nashua), Taylor Morrow (of Nashua), Danny Shea (of Nashua), and Tyler G. Stanley (of Nashua). This well-rounded cast of gifted individuals works wonderfully together to put on a charming and overall hilarious performance.

This Peacock Players Summer Mainstage production will be sponsored in part by Costumes of Nashua, and the Telegraph ENCORE.

"ALMOST, MAINE is a beautifully written and poetic play that is sure to warm the hearts of every audience member that experiences it,” says director Tyler Christie. “Mr. Cariani’s play is a theatrical expression of love, loss, and hope.  This piece is a sure crowd-pleaser for the entire family."

This Peacock Players Summer Mainstage production is proudly rated G for all ages.

ALMOST, MAINE marks the first production of Peacock Players Summer Mainstage season. SUMMARY:

ALMOST, MAINE is a romantic-type comedy that derived it’s name from a fictional town in northern Maine. This charming story revolves around nine couples all experiencing, in their own way, this crazy little thing called love. It follows the painful, clumsy, confusing, yet in the end wonderful experiences that the characters have in order to figure love out. It is composed of nine separate stories (in two acts) all unfolding at the same magical time of nine o’ clock PM, all as the northern lights hover over the beautiful star- filled sky.
