THE JARED NATHAN SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE ARTS

2008 APPLICATION—Summer Camp SCHOLARSHIP

“Whether I am going to be an actor or not, is yet to be seen. What I do know is that the only way I will be happy with my career is if it is closely connected to the Theater. Acting is the only thing I have ever had a real passion for in my life.”

-Excerpt from Jared Nathan’s application essay to The Julliard School

Jared Nathan was active with Peacock Players as a student from 1997 to 2003 before leaving to attend the Walnut Hill School and, later, the Julliard School. During his time as “a Peacock” he played many of the great roles in musical and non-musical theatre and was in the original cast of the improv troupe, then called “Organized Chaos.” Additionally, as a member of the original Peacock Players Young Company, he followed the rigorous summer schedule of performing, building and painting scenery, hanging lights, running crew and mentoring students at summer camp. After graduating, Jared returned each summer to teach camp. His final performance on our stage brought him back together with fellow alumni in 2006 when Jared played Mr. Black in The Wild Party. He was, and will always be, an example of the very best of who and what our students are.

Jared is sorely missed, talked about often and remembered fondly. Peacock Players, in partnership with Dr. Jeff Nathan and Mrs. June Nathan, are deeply honored to be able to offer this scholarship in the name of our friend Jared.
